In our elementary school, the school day begins with a morning meeting, where classes connect and students review their schedule for the day. This community-building is a crucial part of the Responsive Classroom approach. Subjects are led by co-teachers and the school day prioritizes time for two recesses, a lunch period, and numerous breaks or mindfulness sessions scheduled by teachers as needed.

Sheridan’s Middle School is a community where students are challenged to learn and to lead. Our supportive culture allows students to feel comfortable taking intellectual risks and empowers them to advocate for themselves and for others as creative, forward-thinking, socially-aware individuals. Sheridan students graduate more than prepared for the complexities of the future — they are leaders prepared to make meaningful change.

At Sheridan, learning is empowerment.

We strive to create a culture of intellectual and creative energy that provides students with opportunities to find and build their voice, their passions, and their talents at an early age. The result? Confident leaders who effectively communicate and collaborate with strength, mindfulness, and compassion.

Learning at Sheridan extends beyond the classroom. Our 130-acre Mountain Campus moves students to experience new levels of challenge in nature—a perspective that plays a vital role in developing confidence and character.

"Sheridan provides a warm and inclusive environment that is heavily grounded in research on what best helps children learn. The school offers the combo of classroom and experiential instruction, academics mixed with activities, enriching experiences in sports and the arts, and an intimate environment that has encouraged my kids to take ownership of their learning and challenged them to stretch."

Founded in 1927, we are a vibrant K-8 progressive private school with no more than 230 students, an engaged community, and a deep commitment to both equity and diversity.

We believe students learn best when they are intrigued by the work. Throughout elementary and middle school, students are given a strong voice in the classroom, taking ownership for their learning and leaning in to challenge. Teachers are trained to expertly guide lessons so students can explore their curiosities and interests, deepening their engagement in learning.

At Sheridan, you won’t see students sitting at their desks all day; instead, you will see them in motion actively engaging in their learning. Faculty and staff know our students’ passions and interests, making meaningful connections to their learning.
